A Greenhouse and Your Family
With all the different shapes, sizes and types of garden greenhouses out there today, it is no wonder that some people find it very difficult to make a decision. What people sometimes forget to think about is what they are going to grow in that house.
You will need to think about the size in terms of how many plants you want to grow as well as the size they will grow too. If you want to grow trees, you will want a large greenhouse. If you want to have an average home greenhouse, a medium will do. For those who are looking for a portable house, you can go from small to medium.
The next step is to evaluate where you live and determine if there are any special needs that will need to be addressed with your wonderful greenhouse. Some of those can include snow load, severe winds and cold weather. This will help you decide on any additional equipment you may need outside of the vents and fans that are required.
Along with this are the framework and panels that you believe will work best in your given environment. You can get aluminum, pvc or metal frame with glass, polycarbonate or plastic for the panels. Some of the sides come in rolls and are easy to install as well. Whatever you choose, make sure the rating UV rating is posted and is within the range for what you are planting.
If you live in an area that has a lot of forty-five degree and below nights you will want to invest in a heater. There are electric and propane heaters available and that work very well and it just depends on whether you have an outlet close to your growing house. If you only have a few evenings that reach into these extremes, you can use five gallon buckets on water, heated by the sun, to heat the house.
Don’t forget to think about the foundation and how you plan to tie your greenhouse down. The tie-down kits that can be purchased with your garden greenhouse can be used on level ground as well as with a wood foundation, concrete or other types of foundation construction. Once you get it tied down and secure, you are ready to grow, grow and grow!
